Skin Structure and Skin Aging Process

The skin is a very important organ, it is the largest organ of the body, making up 16% of body weight. It is a waterproof barrier over the surface of your body, it keeps out infection, it protects the delicate tissues underneath and it can repair itself if it is damaged.

Our skin consists of three layers (the epidermis, the dermis and subcutis) and each layer is composed of other materials, has its own role and each has another physiologic build.

The epidermis is the top layer. This has a basal layer which is always forming new cells through cell division so the epidermis is made up from layers of cells. The new cells gradually move towards the surface. The outermost layer of the epidermis is made of flat dead cells which are continually worn away by friction.

The dermis consists mostly of connective tissue and cushions the body from stress and strain. It is much thicker than the epidermis. It is responsible for the skin's pliability and mechanical resistance and is also involved in the regulation of the body temperature.

The subcutaneous layer below the dermis and is the final layer of the skin that consists of loose connective tissue and much fat. It acts as a protective cushion and helps to insulate the body by monitoring heat gain and heat loss. The thickness of this layer varies depending on the place in the body and from person to person.

As we get older, cells in the epidermis can lose elasticity and become loose. Moisture emitted from the cells is what causes the skin to become dry. This is also the reason the skin quantified as dry skin, tends to wrinkle faster than oily skin. In addition to the fact that the dermis layer (middle layer) gets thinner, the production amount of the two substances responsible for the elasticity and strength of the skin - collagen and elastin decreases significantly, all we get older.

On top of that, fat cells are diminished and sebaceous glands produce less oil. Perfect Treatment chose to research and develop products that help encourage the production of collagen and elastin cells causing reduction in the appearance of wrinkles.

All of these cause the skin's natural aging process and increased appearance of wrinkles. In addition, exposure to UVA and UVB rays, our daily nutrition and lifestyle we choose also affect the aging process. Severity of the wrinkles is affected by the level of exposure to the sun and the genetic and hormonal factors.

Perfect Treatment has developed a number of products based on natural substances that help reduce the process of wrinkles appearance and address the problems of skin dark spots. Our Firming kit includes a wide range of products containing vitamins and minerals, Hyaluronic acid and antioxidants which help to enhance the process of firming the skin, supplying it with intensive moisture content and effective in slowing down the skin's natural aging process.
